Default oem intake tube swap

I searched for oem intake modifications and nothing popped up but Im sure Ive read a few on here and its how I got the nerve to try it Im still undecided on which complete cai to buy so I thought I can modify the one I already have and having invested already on a KnN drop in was enough for me to do it. The census Ive read here is that the stock gen 4 box is decent for what it is except for the filter and corrugated tube, so I swapped it out. It took about 1.5 hours from tear down, mockup, fit, test drive. The stock corrugated tube inside diameter is 3.25 inches which I increased to 3.75 inches, so in theory it should help. I used what was in stock at the local speed shop, originally I wanted to do a 5" but they didnt have it. Glad too! The 4" is a tight fit. So hopefully this mod does help free up some flow. Vibrant p/n used:
one 45 degree 4" elbow #2875
one 3.5" coupler #12055
two silicone reducers 3.5" to 4" #2776
5 4.5" pipe clamps from any hardware store
at my amazement I can hear the sound of the intake at WOT by just swapping the tube...more important Ill see if it helps with my track times, here some pics attached, thanks

Nice work. That's a great way to get a little more air into the engine.

Good job, I was just thinking how to convert the stock intake tube to make it more efficient and you have gone and done it. Very interested in hearing how it performs and also if you notice any increase in MPG. Reps for sure ........

thanks fellas, reps cup always out I have my diablo set for performance right now..up the rev limit 400.. up 200 on shift points, MDS off, up 10% on throttle sensitivity on 93 octane. Its safe to say I have everything working against me for economy/mpgs at the present time. Im planning to go down to default 87 performance tune for work week next week. Highways/traveling one tank of gas I was getting approx 19mpg. During the work week in DC approx 14mpg...both #s on 87 performance tune. Ill use these numbers to compare and as you know we all drive differently
