Default Electronic Throttle Control

My truck quit on me over the weekend. The ETC warning light came on so I had it towed to the local Dodge dealership to have it looked at on Monday morning. Has anyone dealt with this before and what was the cost for the repair?

sounds like either an issue with the electronics on the throttle body or on the gas pedal inside the truck.
Did you check it for codes?

if you have a tuner on there I hope you set it back to stock cause the dealer is likely to flash your computer and overwrite your tuner.

No, was holding off on buying one, now I'm glad I did since my mod fund is now going to this repair. The Service manager called me this morning as they found the issue after about 4hrs of diagnostics between yesterday and today. Seems the wiring harness between the front and rear harnesses is failing causing the ETC fail code. They are now working on splicing around it.

are they considering it warranty work or this out of pocket? wondering since it is a defect...

On an '05, it's probably a customer pay repair. Good argument for an extended warranty.

unless he is over 70k miles his 05 should still be in warranty at least for some stuff.

The 05's came with the 7/70 warranty.

The dealer is splicing a harness? not sure i would trust that repair. I would think that the dealer would only replace the entire harness.
maybe the hours of hunting and poking at wires puts more money in their pocket. either way something isn't right about it.

35000, no warranty coverage for this. The shop manager said that the couplers looked like they had been crushed. He could only find 1 wire harness in the country at another dealer, but couldn't give me an estimate on when they could get their hands on it or if it would even work due to the damage.

Ended up costing me $320 the way that they did it. Ordering the harness would have been another $270 plus the extra time with no gaurantee that it would even work once it arrived.
