I don't carry.

Never felt the need, even though I travel nationwide for work and live in Houston. =)

Gun MFG's and Gun dealers LOVE the 'just in case' viewpoint.

If I could come up with an item that you may legitimately use once in a thousand lifetimes, and sell it for hundreds of dollars,,,, 'just in case',,,,, well,,,, my marketing instructor would quite pleased! =)

Well, if your "just in case" has a high likelyhood of saving my life or preventing me from great bodily harm - I'll buy it. I'll always carry my firearm and where it isn't allowed, I just won't go.

My Glock 19 rests in its holster on my person or in the space to the immediate right of my shifter (I have a console).

Many of us would rather be prepared 'just in case' rather than unprepared. My personal protection and that of my family is MY responsibility, NOT anyone elses. When seconds count the police are only minutes away. And yes, there are many 'just in case' examples out there.

As for me? I don't have the center console and my Glock 22 rests peacefully under the dropdown cup holder. On weekends, it's much longer cousins are in the back of the truck. (they like range day!)

Great point. I also carry a spare tire, flares, medical kit, etc just in case. Living in the back country is all about the just in case. Its a way of life. No cell phone reception = no help. You are on your own. The sad thing is that many Americans dont know how to survive like that. Its a dying art. A firearm is just one more tool on the trail. It holds no more value than flint, tinder and axe. The government does not protect my life and family, I protect my life and family. Laugh all you want but that statement has a lot of truth.

Great thing about Texas is even if you dont have a conceled handgun lisence (which I do) you can still carry a loaded chambered handgun in your vehicle as long as its conceled, your not commiting a crime, your not a felon, or part of a street gang, motorist protection act of 2007 says your vehicle is a extension of your home and you have the right to defend it as such.
God Bless Texas
