It's a Heat trap!

Compared to running no engine cover at all and a different CAI, its worse in Three significant ways,
it covers a large portion of the intake manifold, and steals a good portion of the air that would otherwise circulate around the intake runners. It also steals air that would hit the front of the HOT Radiator.

Have you seen one of these in person. It's not all that great.
Wish I had one for a day at the track, that poor guy with the snow clogged one is in Calgary, just a couple hours drive south of me, had $500 into it with custom paint and is selling it for a $200 loss on kijiji for $300

wonder if he'd let me run it a couple times at the track, check some IAT's and some ET's

Doesn't make sense to me that he's saying it causes it to run hotter at idle when sitting still, there's no airflow at idle anyway so how would the "scoop" blocking the top portion of the radiator affect that at all....

JMO.

My truck always creeps up in temp when sitting still, so does anyone's vehicle. I'll gain about 10-15 deg F when sitting then the fan kicks on and it SLOWLY drops. (mech fan removed...)

Sure it does, but if it creeps up more with a Vararam than a CAI boxed away from the Rad, and it does, its a flawed design.

It's not just a theory Im pulling out of my @ss, its basic common sense.
Putting a cover over the intake runners that blocks air flow into the rad and around intake runners , even while in motion or not, is not going to be as good for air circulation as a remote mounted box, away from the rad, with an air source front mounted below the rad instead of on top or in front of it.

.I even tried to use some pipe insulation in an attempt to help remedy this design flaw, but gave up and bought a Volant, for less than I paid for the Airaid.

I live in your area and I was just wondering where you got this deal?
Thanks.

Thanks.
I picked up my Volant on Ebay, it came from the states but some how by-passed the usual customs fee's that often rape us at the border.

a buddy of mine recently got a great price on his Volant at Mopac in Edmonton.

Great local source for performance parts.

The AiRaid synthetic is so easy to clean. Mine gets really dirty every 8,000 miles. Just take it off, rinse it, spray it with Fantastic or 409, let it soak. Rinse again and let it dry over night. Looks brand new and works great. Nice roar to it as well.

BlackRamHemi...

Would you say even without the ram air add on that the volant would be the superior intake performance wise?

Looking for a nice intake for some extra sound and performance, the add on wouldnt be good for me so considering all the rain and puddles for where i live.
