Arrow Line-X or the like, Your thoughts/costs/regrets?

Hi,

I haven't even picked up my 1500 yet and the dealer said they will apply a spray on bed liner, chrome bug hood deflector, and four mud flaps for $699.

Am I being taken for a ride or what?

Also they will buy and install a Class IV receiver (OEM) for $250

Last question, is the protection package worth it? tow hooks, and skid plates (I think suspension and transfer case) for $195 installed?

I value yours opinions.

1) The spray on liner is definitely worth it. Although, you can get a bed rug which is just as good.

2) I'd definitely get a hitch. You will need one some time or another.

3) If I could the protection package, I would. Tow hooks could definitely come in handy. Skid plate always helps when you aren't paying attention lol.

Just my .02. Hope I could help!

I didn't realize it wasn't a 4x4. If you don't plan on off-roading, I wouldn't bother then. It's all up to personal preference.

if you are asking if you can get the stuff for a better price the answer is yes.

1. Personally, I'm not a fan of the chrome bug deflector and you can get line-x for $400 and the Dodge splash guards for about $80.
2. Hitch for $250...why not but it's only 6 bolts if you buy one and do it yourself.
3. Not a 4x4...I would get some tow hooks but not the skid plates.

I guess the decision comes down to are you looking for some small easy weekend projects where you can say I did that. Maybe you aren't or it's not worth your time and having the dealership do all that is worth it to you. So, what do you feel inclined to do yourself and/or what is your time worth?

My vote is to skip it all. Get your truck do some research and pick out exactly what you want and install it yourself. Obviously you won't be spraying line-x but the other stuff is all doable and you'll like your truck that much more.

I'd call around and price all that stuff in your local market.

Dealers tend to make money on these offers so I'd see what you can get it directly for.

A Line-X over the rail bedliner costs $409 here.

I had a 2004 Hemi Ram with a LineX, loved it. It did fade a bit, but a coating of ArmorAll fixed that. Spilled paint on it, just needed some spray paint. My 2010 has a spray in from the dealer and it looks a lot like LineX, did not ask the brand. LineX is lighter than Rhino, least it was when I did my 2010.

Get the hitch, you will use it. Tow hooks and plate, your preference.

Definately shop around unless you can talk the dealer down.

Line-X here is about $400-$425, and the hitch, you can buy for $150 or you can get installed for less than the dealer is quoting you. I opted to have it installed, but I paid $220, because I wanted the "factory" look, but it really is an easy install. I didn't like the way the ones I could find looked. I am with the others, I am not a fan of the chrome bug guard, but hey, to each his own. I personally would get a black one, it will do it's job, and being a black truck, you will hardly know it's there.

get the truck & then look for the best add ons that you want, you can always get the Line-X, the dealer will even call them, mine did, they come & pick up the vehicle, even at your home, they do the work & will drop it back off, sometimes there are coupons either at Line_X or on their website, if you want it another color besides black, for a bit higher price they will color match the bed, they even will do stencils, for another $95. if i were you i would go to your local Line_X even before you get the truck. Ask them for the grand tour & also what they can do for you
Look at the bedrug too, http://www.bedrug.com/experience/movie.php

Make the truck truly yours, shop around

The only advantage to having the dealer install the add-ons is that you can include them in the financing which spreads the pain over the length of your loan contract.
