Default Denied Military Rebate on New Ram Purchase

I bought my 2013 Ram 1500 on January 11, 2014. It was a new vehicle purchase, not a used truck. I'm active duty AF. The sales person and the sales manager could not give me the $500 military rebate. It would not let them select it in the 'system' they use to tally up the price on the truck. They explained that they would give it to me if they could and would have no reason for the dealership to deny the rebate as it doesn't come out of their pocket.

My guess is that the military rebate only applies to current model year vehicles? Anyone have any insight on this? It wasn't a deal breaker and I bought the truck anyways. I mentioned it when I got the follow-up call about the purchase from Chrysler earlier tonight. I'm thinking about contacting Chrysler directly to see what's up but thought I'd see if anyone here knew what the deal was...?

Unless they gave you a huge discount already from buying last year's model, get them to deduct the extra $500 as a dealer discount instead.

Not giving you the Military Discount is not acceptable

I would raise such a stink with every Military Commissary, Public Service, Auto Club, Costco, Federal Credit Union, , BBB, etc every other website telling them that a dealership in Southwestern IL, without actually using the dealerships name,
would not accept your Military Service to figure out the cost for your Ram

At some point you will have to disclose the town/city that the dealership is located in
but being an honorable member of the Military, do not disclose the dealerships name,
that will give you more leverage & they can save Face

Did you use the $1000 USAA rebate? If so, you can't use the $500 military. Otherwise, you should have received it on a new/never titled 2013.

I would almost think something like this is referred to as "Bait and Switch" technique with sales. Just my thoughts.

I don't know what you are calling " bait and switch "?
The RAM military rebate program is very good. I've used it numerous times; including last week.
It doesn't cost a dealer anything to apply the $500 military rebate. It comes from Ram.
As the OP is active duty, he should have received it on a new/never titled Ram; unless he used the $1000 USAA rebate.
If the OP didn't use the $1000 USAA, he should have received the $500 military unless:
1. The truck was previously titled; or
2. The dealer didn't know how to use its' computer.

Yes, I did use the USAA buying service and got the USAA Member Rebate. Can't combine the USAA Member Rebate and the Military Rebate explains it.

Thanks for the explanation gents!

Once I read the fine print, I saw that there are quite a few rebates that in certain combinations are incompatible.

For instance, the $1000 conquest is not compatible with the $1000 current lesee program and neither are compatible with Tread Lightly.

A dealer will give you every rebate you qualify for no matter what, it is free money.

Before you go and buy, call the incentive line as there are tons of little rebates which you may qualify for that the dealer is unaware of.
