Default ENGINE LIGHT...wtf???

i'm sick of seeing this freaking engine light. not gonna lie, on bad days i drive it kinda hard but not as hard as it could go. with that said, when i start to drive it hard the freaking engine light will come on and stay on for the remainder of the day. its even stayed on for 2 days once. this happens everytime i drive it hard. i go to take it in to get the code read and it goes off everytime. anyone know or have any ideas? got me really questioning my new truck.

Even if the CEL goes off the code should still remain in the system. Did you actually have it scanned even when it went out ? I'd be curious to see what code is being posted.

I would get a scanner and drive it hard while connected and when the light comes on, scan it. But if you use a decent scanner it should show you the history codes or previous codes. Let us know what it is when you figure it out.

Mine did the same thing.and I have a Snap -on scanner but it would read weird,it finally read the codes, but it started stating ALL the O2 sensors were reading bad first 1 then 3 ,then all, the dealer knew exactly what was wrong, it needed a PCM, they changed it out in an hour and 3000 miles later no CEL's at all, mine would come on if I idled for about 10 minutes, then go off after so many engine re-starts, drove me crazy, but my tech said he has seen a lot of the 09's that display multiple O2 codes do this.

I had the CEL come on and gave me a P1004 code. But by the end of the day it was gone and hasn't come back on. I believe it was a "Short intake runner valve malfunction" That was two weeks ago.
