Default Installing a dynomax myself without welding?

I just want to replace my stock muffler with a dynomax. I'd to just cut the old muffler off, bolt on the dynomax, and leave the other end open. Is that even possible, or should I just bite the bullet, take it to the muffler shop, and have them weld it on.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Just wondering...

I'd cut the muffler out . Install the new muffler and install the tailpipe back into the muffler . Clamp it in position and you should be good . Just make sure you get the right size muffler . If you don't get the right size muffler then the next best thing is to have it welded in olace .

I can measure the old muffler for length, but what size inlet/outlet pipes would fit my 04 QC 5.7 2WD?

I'm not sure of the pipe size . You just need to measure the outside diameter of the pipe . Maybe someone , who has a '04 , will chime in here shorty

My 05 is not quite 3' piping but any 3' inlet muffler would just slip in and you can just clamp it, and if the muffler is too short just stop by an auto parts store and get a 3' straight pipe that you can pretty much cut to any size..I just went through this with my custom setup

Hope this helps, If you have any more questions just ask ask away

latitud will become famous soon enough

It is 3" pipe on an '03 5.7. The stock muffler is LONG so you will likely need about 18" of 3" pipe.
