Default Air Conditioning/Heating Problem

Hello All
I have a new to me 2009 DR Laramie.
The problem is that every time I start the truck with the key the AC comes on.
If I use the remote start it will default to my settings and then when i put the key in the ignition the ac again comes on even if the temp is set to high.

Is this a software issue ? or is the controller in need of replacement?

Do you have it set to defrost or will it do it in all positions?

It will do it in all positions. I just tried again. So even if I start the truck shut AC off while in defrost mode and then turn left controller knob to Auto the AC again comes on. Very strange. I am in the sub-arctic and will not need ac for another 9 months lol.

Mine does it too. Kinda bummed about it because I intalled the remote start for the vary reason of starting the AC or heat early.

Have either of you checked the manual to see if you can change it?

I should've checked there first. All I could find is that the heated steering wheel, heated or vented seat option work with remote start.

Ok this is getting frustrating. I do not want AC coming on at all on its own. I just read that with the AC compressor on I will use 25-30% more gas. Every time I adjust the settings the AC comes on, start the truck AC comes on this is crazy..any one have any ideas to correct ?

My old truck (07 Silverado) has programmable driver / passenger heating and cooling, if it is set to recirculation it automatically turns on the A/C. Might be the same for Dodge. Just remembered turning on the a/c will help defog or defrost the windows.

The A/C can not use 25-30% more gas!! If it does, you have a bigger problem.
Have you been to the dealer for warranty work? There was a computer flash for mine.

I've never heard of the A/C using that much more gas.
