Gears will be the SINGLE best mod you can do on the Dodge Rams... heck they are the single best mod on ANY Chrysler vehicle since everything they sell is "OVER DRIVEN" when they are kicking out vehicles with 2.29 overall gear ratios (3.42 gear x .67 overdrive) then they certainly have their basic math all screwed up.

If your tire height is 30" or taller then 4.56 gears are hands down the best mod you will ever spend your money on (aside to BOOST).

SPEED SAFE, NICK

This truck has 31.6" tires, and I will probably upgrade to the factory 20s with 33" tires. 3.55 gears. Debating 4.10 vs 4.56, Im worried I will lose 3 or 4mpg on the highway with 4.56s.

My first tank isn't really a fair comparison, about 50/50 city highway including some trailer pulling. Averaged 18 which I can't really say is better or worse than stock. I'm planning on taking a road trip next weekend, so I should get some good numbers to compare to.

So I did a lot of driving over the past few days and my actual MPGs with the 87 tune are right in line with what I have been averaging stock. Fine by me, same mpg with improved performance.

Switched to the Tow Tune now thinking the low end/mid range would be enjoyable. So far, I like the 87 better. I don't notice any power difference between the two. I like the transmission shifting better on the 87. I will give it a few days and then try out the 93 tune.

So i took the tow tune off. Similar power to the 87 tune, but the trans shifting wasn't to my liking. I can see why they do it since you want to minimize shifts while towing.

I have a road trip tomorrow for work so I figured I would try out the Mileage XS tune. So far its around town power is similar to stock, we'll see if theres any mpg improvement.
