Well tough to beat 10-15mins of work . Tell you what, I will take the pics as I am doing the install then you can do the write up, that way you don't have to take your stuff apart. The only reason I started to think about moving the cable was that it mentions in the owners manual that it could be in the center console or the glovebox. That prompted me to start sticking my finger in hidden areas to see if I could find a flap/hole or cutout. I am gonna order the cable from amazon right now.

sroy I hate to say it I hope you did not already order the cable....not that it wont work.....but I gave you an example of a white one and I got a black one so it would kind of hid when tucked up in the tray and not being used.

I still need to hook up mine it's in the climate contraolled area in a plastic pakage. Is that where it's suppose to be plugged in?

This is a great thread. I was trying to decided what I was going to do to get the cable to the center console area and this is the perfect solution. Good job!!

I pushed the end through the hole under the climate controls and kind of encouraged it to go the right and pushed until I could grab it. I then popped the light out and went through that hole and put the light back in. Put the top box back in with the one screw. Then put the bottom in. Connected the extender to the cable. Closed box and was happy. I did this because I use it for iPhone and I wanted to be able to see my phone.

I hope this make sense it's late and I am typing this on the ipad

This is an example of the cable you need. I think this one is 4 feet but you can see how the ends are.

Fantastic post guys - wish Dodge would have wired it this way in the first place! I will be doing this shortly.

Gotta see if I can find a black cable....

One step ahead of you Sir! (but I appreciate the mention) I had a couple of other things to order from Frys so I ended up getting the black cable as well.
