Default Adding Heated Seats

The truck did not come equipped with heated or power front seats (SLT Big Horn Edition). It appears that I have the electrical connections under each for power seats, heat elements or both (the electrical pigtails are present under each seat is present). Does anyone have a electrical diagram to determine if the pigtails are for heat, power or both. How difficult is it to add the factory heat elements and switch to the build?

Winter is coming and heated seats would be nice.

Any help is appreciated.

it is impossible to add the factory heated seats unless you have ties with a chrysler engineer. The factory heated seats are not a addable option. You can add aftermarket heated seats with standalone switches. The reason I know all this is because I am in the midst of adding the factory heated seats to my truck. The only reason I can do it is because I got my hands on the CDA program that makes it possible for my to change my own build. If you could find a pirated version of the Chrysler Diagnostic Application you can change what ever you want includeing adding factory heated seats. But for now for the average user even average dealer it is impossible to add it.

Cormacs,

Are saying that if I purchase the heater elements and dash switches and install them to the factory wiring, they will not work until you program the computer? If so, the dealer could not update/flash the computer to allow the heated seats to work because the average dealership does not how to update the build?

The dealer I am dealing with was willing to update the build with the integrated brake controller until they read the bulletin from Chrysler stating not to update the build with integrated brake controller. If the dealer has the expertise to update the build with the integrated brake controller do they have the expertise to update the build with heated seats?

Its not a matter of what the dealer is willing to do. Its a matter of what software their computers have and what they can change. It sounds like this is one of the many things the dealer cannot update.

Some others are power adjustable pedals, dual zone climate controls, auto tilting mirrors for reverse, etc, etc.

If you go with the after market, and have them installed properly, they should work as well, if not better than the factory units, AND cost a lot less.

They also won't give you the hassles of getting the computer updated to "realize" that you've got heated seats.

Here is a link for what a friend of mine installed in his '08. He loves 'em, though we're in Louisiana, so you only need 'em for a couple of days out of the year

To All:

Thanks for the education- the links were great- I am leaning on going aftermarket (as opposed to Mopar accessories).

Heated seats would be real nice in the winter time, but I wish they also had cooling for when it's scorching hot in the summer on those sport cloth seats. When you get them, maybe you could take pics of the install to help us other kids out. Good luck.

^ The Laramie does have cooled seats - not sure of the system it uses so not sure if it can be added or not.
