Default 04 dodge ram front differential noise

I have an 04 dodge ram 2500 4x4 cummins with 280000 miles
I have replaced a lot of parts lately:
aftermarket endlinks, track bars shocks. all new ball joints bearing hub assemblies alignment, front axle u joints, brakes , calipers front, rotors front, clutch, new front drive shaft.

In the past few day I had what i thought was tire noise at slow speeds. It was a humming sound. Over a period of two days and about 300 miles its has becom a loud hum/roar at 60mph loud enough to overtake the radio and a vibration that can be felt at your feet. Itcan also be heard once you slow down. It sounds like a loud tick or bump that increases with speed even when coasting. I suspected it was coming from the front differential. I tested it again with the front driveshaft removed and got the same noise. I removed the differential cover very few metal shaving in the fluid. Witht he front end raised you can spin the wheel forward with little to no noise unless you spin the wheel fast if you rotate the wheel backwards it looks as if the ring gear and pinion gear bind and then give a slight jump and creates the sound I heard i think.

Glad you joined us and welcome to the Z for Rams from Baltimore . I'm afraid to tell ya , it sounds like one of the new hub bearings is gone . Does the sound change when steering left to right at speed ? Do you have any pictures of your truck ? Have you done any mods or have plans for any ? Any of your friends have Rams ? Tell them about us . We would love to have them . You will find this site is full of a lot of talented people . So if theres any question that you need answered , just shoot away . Talk to ya soon . Welcome to the forum,
Although the differential shouldn't be ruled out, I have to agree with Tom. I would start by examining the new bearings. It wouldn't be the first time a new bearing failed. As Tom asked, does the sound change when you turn left and/or right?

This forum is full of great looking trucks; packed with great mod ideas and there are loads of knowledgeable and experienced people here.

AND - We all like pix! Got any to share?

Enjoy the Z!
