Default Looking for the best fibreglass cover

I am starting to consider a fibreglass cover for the Ram.

I am looking to you guys for some input / suggestions? More importantly, though, I really would like to see some pics!! I have been looking at the Leer 700 and 800 series, but Im open to various others...

When I mention the hard fibreglass cover to other truck owners I am usually met with quite a bit of negativity... mainly about them limiting the use of the bed and being difficult to get off. Are some brands easier to get on and off than others?

Again, any input and pics would be appreciated.

Hey Greg... Yea you will hear both sides... ultimately its up to you though. I have a Century with all the power options including 12V light (not battery one) and heavy duty lifters, remote locking, remote lift, etc on mine: http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=57975

Like you, I got feedback both ways... more so saying not to get it. But truth is... for the once a year (if that) that i will move stuff that will require the use of a bed without a cover... I can take it off.

I dont think any of the better brands of hard covers are any more easier to put on and take of then the others from what I seen. Probably all about the same.

if you plan to use your bed with overside loads a lot... then you may want to stray from the hard cover... and get one o fthe fold up type. Many members here have em ad I use to have it on my Escalade EXT.... and i think I may have taken mine off 2-3 times in the 2 years that I had it. So if you are like me... and will use it rarely... the Hard cover does make your truck look awesome!

the best of all is leer product i have buyed one couple of years ago and it is the best product you can have. However if you want to use your bed you can put a smooth bed cover like truxedo.

Agreed!! Leer & Mopar I would say are the best with mopar being made by Leer. I would have gotten the Mopar or Leer if it came factory in my color and without the need to spend $600 to re-paint. Century was the next offer from the dealer. Looked into it and upgraded mine with features. So far Im very happy with it.

Thanks for the input,Tim. Did yours come with factory matched paint? I never even thought about that issue. I have a black Ram, but the black is not a true pitch-black.... it has an almost metalic/pearl look to it.

I just bought a 2010 Ram with a Leer 700 fitted at the dealership. It fits nicely and compliments the lines of the truck. The painted it to match the body, so it really sets the truck off! This is the first time I've ever had a cover on a truck, so it'll take some getting used to. I agree that it does limit the usefulness of the bed somewhat; but the benefits of being watertight and lockable (mine has a power locking system, which is very convenient) outweighed the negatives for me. Good luck with whichever way you decide to go!

I have the Leer 700 and it is perfectly colour matched. I love the way it looks and am very happy with it.

I have the mopar cover and got it from autotrucktoys.com you can see pics of it there. The color matches perfect and keeps my bed dry and secure. I don't haul alot of stuff so it works for me. I don't know about the leers but the mopars fit real snug along the body of the bed. I been getting a slight rub against my paint. I put some weather stripping along the edges and it seemed to help. I am also having a strip of rhino done along side of my bed for some extra protectetion
