Default Rough running hemi leads to other problems

2010 Hemi with less than 20k miles. 2nd time it is in the shop with the same problem.

Engine began running rough and check engine light came on solid. Took it to the dealer, they replaced a plug they said was defective, and sent me on my way. Ok for 3 weeks. Then, it began running rough again. Check engine light again, especially under a load or when accelerating...just like the first time. Now they said it isn't a plug but they are pulling the heads to look for a sticking valve. They are offering a used car as a loaner. They estimate they may need it for 7 to 10 days! Are you kidding me?

Sound familiar to anyone? Comments? How should I proceed with this and how long should I play along? Any recourse with Dodge yet?

Play along? Sounds to me they are doing the right thing and even went one step further by giving you a loaner.

This is what warranties are for. Not everything that comes out is perfect.

Not a perfect solution, but like RB said, I think that they are doing the right thing. If you have the easy care you could get a rental, but IIRC they only pay $30 a day towards a rental.

No and at this point, it's not clear that the two issues are connected. There is more than one reason for a rough running engine.

There's a problem for sure, TVDOC, but it may have been a manufacturing QC problem and that's what warranty is for. I have a bit of a problem with the 7 - 10 days thing unless that includes getting the right parts and fixing the problem. It is excessive for diagnostic time.

Had a check engine light with rough running and they kept it 10 days. Replaced some spark plugs and other things, didn't work, and finally the computer. That fixed it. Gave me a loaner, (used car) dirty and old, wife complained, and we got a new one from Enterprise. Dealer had to order the parts, took several days to get them.

if you need a truck, I'd make sure you let them know that's why you bought a new truck, not a used loaner CAR

An update to my original post...

OK. I'll stand down but just a little. This IS what the warranty if for so I'll let it run it's course. Got the call today that the exhaust valves in Cyl 1 & 3 are badly 'burned' and need replaced. Also, the cylinder head needs sent out and machined. Dealer is going to replace exhaust and intake valves in both cylinders and send the head out to a local shop. Problem is they need 8 to 10 days just to get the parts from Chrysler! Really, no parts in stock in the US?

My questions are: How does a 20k mile engine have burned valves and cylinder heads? How can I have enough confidence in this engine to keep it past the warranty period?
