Ehhh, these trannys should be fine. I put 50k on the Cadillac and always used engine braking, never had a problem. I REALLY beat that car and it loved it. Not a lite car either, about 4k pounds. Raced it on the drag strip and moto-x regularly. Had a decent amount of mod work done, never had a problem.

I beat my cars like I stole them. I keep them clean and keep them properly maintained of course, but when it come to the throttle, brakes, tires and steering, i go all out.

Its times like these I wish I could pick a Chrysler engineers brain for a while...

i still bet its the torque converter doing it.

It probably purposley slips some to save gas or something, when downshifting.

Try the brake thing though, and let us know. Just push the pedal down a little bit and you should feel the converter lock...even when you're in overdrive and trying to accelerate lightly...tapping the brake pedal locks the coverter and makes it take less throttle to accelerate...I use it often...lol

Have you used the "Tow Haul" mode?
I've noticed that with the cruise set it will hold me back on a very steep grade. It may be applying the brakes also. If I want to coast, I disable the cruise.
