Default Truck Jumps

I just bought a 2001 Ram 1500 Ext Cab 2wd with a 5.2 motor and only 85,000 miles . I replaced the TPs sensor but the truck will jump when going down the road at a constant speed at random times , it is like something just pulls it backwards feeling . What could cause this ? Thank

Welcome to the Z. Sorry, don't have an answer for you. But we have other members that certainly will.

We have a lot of forums for all kinds of topics, so you shouldn't have any problems finding a place to post questions.

We LOVE pics of Rams.

Here's how to post them: http://www.ramforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73

welcome welcome pics? Is it randomly shifting hard while going at a constant speed or is the rear end locking up real quick?

Feels like the tranny jerking . It does it when holding the throttle at a constant speed at highway speeds usually on a small incline , nothing steep .

This sounds like you have a load based misfire, these are most common around 45-60 mph with the convertor in lockup and the throttle steady. It is likely the plugs wires cap and rotor are the same ones installed by the union worked in 2001. One way you can determine this assuming the truck has and auto trans is to power stall it, hold the break while slowly increasing the throttle, you should feel the same jerking effect. If you do it needs a tune up most likely. Just Do not power stall it for an excessive amount of time as it will eventully make the tranny overheat and could cause other damage.
