Default Any HP gains with mufflex?

Looking at replacing the stock sport muffler with a mufflex magnaflow.
Any HP gains with the straight thru magnaflow?
The stock dual exhaust on the sport seems to flow pretty well.

stock exhaust is not a free flowing system, but when i got my mufflex 18 i could see all the way thru it so it has to be a free flowing system and that should help HP , and it sounds great

I'm sure there are dyno measurements to view but given differences in DA, temp, etc...your results will vary and differ from the mfgr's claims.

To realize full potential of an exhaust that flows more air you need more air in. The internal combustion engine is just a big air pump. More air in + more air out = More Power.

I'd suggest you consider doing intake & exhaust to realize the maximum potential offered by either mod.

^^^ +1 on the intake & exhaust working together to free up some Hp's. The y-pipe mod is another restrictive area that, when fixed, provides a bit more power as well as some sound enhancement.

Great info and pics of the Y-pipe. Do these together with an intake to make the most gain!

I don't believe you are going to see much, if any, change from a muffler alone. You need to do the y-pipe and/or heads to see anything around there.

WOW, just crawled under my truck (2010) to check out the y-pipe... that thing really is terrible! I was going to get the 18'' magnaflow put on tom, and i'll have my shop install the magnaflow y-pipe while I'm at it.

I'm new to the "Hemi", but I've been a mustang guy for years now, and I can tell you that a restriction in exhaust like the rams stock Y, would net a good 3-4 rwhp on a DOHC mustang.

Better comparison to the Hemi (345) would be the LS1 (347) since the fbody platform (camaro/transam) also use a y-pipe configuration and single muffler.

Those cars pick up around 10-13rwhp with a Y and catback.

Keep in mind that these "assumptions" are all based on a dynojet at sea level...

Exactly. The Y-pipes on here are horrendous. I am actually getting my y-pipe and 14 inch magnaflow put on Friday. I was going to go with the muffler first till I read around and looked at the y-pipe....disheartening.....

The Y may be ugly but you would be surprised as to what it will flow. As for gaining HP, I can gain 10-20 HP on a dyno just by icing my S/C, so I think sometimes people put to much stock in dyno numbers. The tuner can do what he wants with your numbers...plus I don't care about HP when at the track as much as I care about hooking and having the truck set up right. I have beat many SRT10 trucks cause their biggest issue is they cant get traction. TQ is where it's at boys....
