Default bully dog vs. predator

I am going to get a tuner for my 2010 hemi crew cab and am leaning towards the bully dog. I like how you can mount it on the windsheild and 'driving coach' to help save gas. I'm mainly looking to save a few mpg and of course add a little power. The only other plans I have are for CAI and possibly exhaust. I've read about a lot of people liking the predator on this site, what would the advantages/dissadvantages to getting the bully over the predator be?

My personal opinion is the BD is more for "entertainment". It has a nice friendly user display w/ alot of "fun" options but the performance isnt up to par w/ SC or DSP.

If you want to save fool, you arent looking for more power.... Put in a fuel saver tune, or put in a tune for more power. The fuel saver tune will make it feel peppier though, but not necessarily give more power.

Id say go w/ the DSP (or atleast the SuperChips over the BD) if you want power. If you want stricly fuel saving and enjoyment, go with the BD.

Whyd you get a 390hp motor if you want to save gas????? Just curious. I keep seeing all new members say this. You bought the engine for the power, not fuel economy (and if you did, you are mighty disillusioned).

I didn't buy as an economy vehicle but why not save a few bucks if I can? I guess I kind of mis listed my priorities... It gets better gas mileage stock than my 02 dakota 4.7 did. Of course I love the power and am going to add to it.
Thanks for your opinion, I haven't looked into the DSP or superchips....I'll have to check em out. From what I've seen both the bully and predator offer similar maps, is there something specific the bully is lacking that makes less power? Also does anyone know if any of them can turn off that damn seat belt alarm? Also with the predator do you just plug it in to do the programming and then take it out or do you leave it plugged in?

You plug the programmer into the OBD2 port and install the tune, then unplug. It doesnt stay connected.

As far as seat belt alarm, not sure......

I have not looked at other tuners for the HEMI powered vehicles. I have two such monsters and both realized significant gains using the Predator coupled with basic mods such as an intake and exhaust.

I like the Predator's online upgrade capability, fuel tuning options, the CMR tune availability (done on a dyno by a DS authorized and trained tuner), DS's warranty and their technical customer service support.

With respects to my Ram HEMI, here's a link to the actual before and after dyno results to demonstrate the results realized. There are quite a few pages in that thread so this link will take you to that specific page:

RAM MODS

I also have a Predator on my SRT and I went from a stock RWHP number of 358 hp @ 5850 RPM (peak), to 381 RWHP @ 5850 RPM (peak) with the canned 91 octane CAI tune to 411 RWHP @ 5850 RPM (peak) with the CMR dyno tune and I can tell you not only is it a numbers improvement, the torque and HP curves come on sooner and are sustained longer. It really launches the car well (4200 lbs dry), it pulls hard up to my preset shift points and you'll note that the same result was experienced with the truck HEMI. I can tell you this, you really feel it!

So, my recommendation is the Predator (unless you want the driving coach and real time monitoring functions, which are available on the DS Trinity) simply because it works and works well.

They have separate tunes for vehicles that have a CAI installed? Or did I miss something?

alright I broke down and spent the extra couple bucks on the predator trinity- best of both worlds. 'cool' display and the best programmer. 560 shipped, not too bad. Should have it by the end of the week
