Default Superchips trans issue

Any owners of 2009+ dodge ram hemi owners with a superchips tuner are you having issues with WOT shifts?

Set rev limiter to 6500rpm
Set WOT 1-2 shift to 6200rpm
Set WOT 2-3 shift to 6200rpm

There has been a major trans issue with superchips tuning, the truck will not shift or have a major pause between WOT shifts. They have had this issue for 4 months now and have swept the problem under the rug but it is now public.

I hadn't heard about this. I have no shifting problems using a DiabloSport Predator.

The DT website has a load of info on the superchips issue, they seem to be the only one out of all the tuners with the issue

WOW.... 6200 rpm shift point? Isn't that a little high as well as the 6500 rpm rev limiter? Just asking?

Nope, dodge valvetrain can safetly hadle that rpms, I use my tuner 100% and use max rpms, my 08 pulled hard when maxed to the same rpms. I race my truck for fun and have friendly competition at the local track, if superchips tuner never had the issue i would easily be in the 14's

I won't be winding my Hemi up that tight, but some folks seem to want that option.

If I was gonna 'go there', I'd go about it differently.

I run the canned maps and have had no issues with my Cortex. A couple of the RT guys have had issues with the canned maps, but it appears that those who bump up the shift points are the most likely to run into this situation.

I'm some folks that want that option lol

The quick tune feature seem to be good, unfortunetly i bought the tuner for its full abilities and even wasted $40 on the trans tuning

Kinda wondering if anybody has a dyno chart of a 'typical' RAM Hemi that's turning 6+ grand and still making power,,,

Both HP and TQ fall off after a certain rpm if the entire set up isn't made for that rpm level. (Set up = intake, cam, heads, exhaust, tune, etc)

The Dodge 1500 website's Hemi dyno chart shows that TQ starts to drop off right around 4K, and HP peaks at about 5600,,,,

The Dyno chart found in the SC forums for a 4th Gen show TQ dropping after 4100 and HP pretty much leveled out between 5600 and 5900 w/91 tune

Is there any proven HP or TQ gain to be had above ~5,850~ rpm without doing some internal work?

Would like to see some charts showing a 'mostly OEM' RAM Hemi still building power up untill 6200-6300,,,,

I second that, power drops off at those rpms since the truck is running factory rev limiter on those dyno graphs, i would guarantee the truck makes good power all the way to 6200rpm. If you look on superchips forum you see Ron posting 40hp and 42torque on 91 tune then others with half those power #'s i don't think superchips has any real dyno graphs on the ram.

Also another reason for taking the truck into a higher rpm in one gear is when it shifts into the next gear its into a higher powerband, which would mean lower 1/4 mile times

Ive seen the same thread on SC. Ron goes on to correct his numbers to what is shown on that chart,,, (40 HP and ~38-39~ TQ) He also explains why the numbers they post on their site don't have a chart associated with them.

Taking a motor beyond it's powerband can be as detrimental to 1/4 mile times as shifting early, especially if there is a rather 'sudden' drop off.

TQ gives you that nice take off,,, HP is good for top speed,,, Revving farther and farther away from peak TQ can also be detrimental at times

Until we can actually get some charts showing a gain, or at least not a drop in the powerband at RPM's above the factory limiter, we are all pretty much guessing.
