Default Black or chrome nerf bars on black TRX?

Need nerf bars with two small kids...I think black would be the way to go in my book but not sure if the powdercoating would get scratched to hell in short order...

I'd be getting the Westins...anyone have any experience with their black finish?

I'd go with the black ones like iCoveru has on her Ram.

I have also been looking into this for my black Ram 1500. I have found by reading here on this forum that warranty may be an issue with the black that the stainless doesn't have. In looking into this, I found that Raptor black oval tubes have a 10-yr warranty. Here is a link: http://www.raptorseries.com/4inch-w2w-oval-tubes.html

Powdercoating is gonna stand up a lot better than the thin chrome over mild steel coating. I am not sure if the Westin bars are powdercoated or painted. Painted will start to scar up pretty quickly as well.

Just confirm you are getting powdercoated bars, maybe find out from the mfgr how thick the coating is and go with the best value.

Just spoke to a salesperson at runningboardworld.com who explained the issue with the black nerf bars. Long story short, they will rust over time. How much time depends on where you live and how much corrosive salt your nerfs are exposed to. They will start to acquire some rust pretty fast in the northern climate where there is annual snow and salting of the roads (maybe in the first couple of years he said-and this is not a warranty issue). Also, if you're into backing your boat into the salty water at the coast, same thing applies. Exposure to salt accelerates the rusting process. Not a problem with stainless steel. Not really a great concern if you live in the south like I do, and do not really make many trips to the Gulf. Hope the information helps.

Will check them out - thanks. If I find out any helpful info on them I will post it back up here.

Very helpful. I am in oregon so I should probably be fine, but will probably stay away so I don't have to buy new ones (or live with rust) in a few years.

I am now leaning towards Iron Cross (stainless) or factory (need to see what they are made of). I think the westin silver ones are chrome, but the black are powder coated.
