Default Custom dual exhaust with H or X pipe Or 2.5 into 3''?

I went to the best exhaust shop here in Buford GA and told him I wanted a custom dual exhaust with either a H or X pipe configuration. The owner and I went out and looked at my truck, he crawled under the truck and did a good visual. When he was done he surprisingly told me he felt the stock system (2.5 to 3'') was all I needed and recommended I put the money somewhere else in the truck. I was shocked, my jaw literally dropped. This guy could have built and installed a custom exhaust for my truck but told me flat out I didn't need it. So that being said is one system better than the other? All the posts I've seen and research I've done online I would think the dual with an X pipe would be best. But the reality is I have no personal experience with the dual setup. Thoughts, experience??????

I think that's true - I just ordered a 2015 Laramie quad cab 4x4 with a pentastar and prior to taking delivery the dealer is installing the dual exhaust - including the rear bumper - from the Hemi so I will have the same look and similar exhaust note. Not a problem the pipe radius matches up.

Can always save money and just change out the muffler for a little more sound which is what I'm doing. Plus the stock muffler is huge and wasted weight.

I was wanting the same exact setup. I want true duel x pipe. To me an x pipe has the best sound out of any exhaust. I don't really have a local shop I trust to do a custom setup . If your looking for pure sound and want something that sounds great and cheap I really recommend buying a magnaflow y pipe (muffler delete). Get the 3in inlet and duel 2.5 out. Cut the muffle put this in and it sounds betyer than any muffler or catback out there and wayyy cheaper. I've had this setup on both of my expresses and it sounds great

lol...I got it the first time

I went a different route than the normal thinking...kinda like a true dual hybrid to a single out exhaust... did 3" piping from the header collectors (because my headers were 3" out) to an H pipe, then through dual 3" dmh cutouts (for when i want it really loud) to a 3" dual in/3.5" single out 22" magnaflow (I like it quiet incab) dumped post axle...

How did this setup effect your performance? Your set up is close to what I want except the cut outs.
