I purchased the hard expandable dryer vent others have purchased. Not the foil with the wire.

Age you stretching out that hose and cutting off what your don't need? Leaving it as intact as you can so it holds it's shape better???

I used the black, non-perforrated flex drain pipe from Home Depot (4") for mine (off the Volant Ram Air flange in the bottom of the Volant air box) and I didn't trim it at all. I thought having the ridges as close together as possible would be better than farther apart and I wanted as much as possible left over incase I decided to change the routing later.. There was just enough to go from the box to the bottom of the front bumper area (behind the bumpeR) without stretching mine. I like the mod a lot

Ya Barnyard, this other pipe will get to 8' I think. I had decided to leave it as solid as I could. I bent it to run along the wheel guard and down. I did notice a rub at full turn. I may pull and deform the back side near the wheel guard so it does not push it towards the wheel.

I should have posted a picture because it's all useless without pictures to show off.

You can see the pucker in the plastic wheel guard/separator. I will keep massaging that pipe till that pucker is gone. I hope ;-).

Yep that's the same 4" duct that I used too. The flange wasn't needed in the airbox when using 4" duct since the duct sits firmly on top of the wheel well liner and doesn't shift position. Without the flange you can bend the duct immediatly from the bottom of the airbox so it doesn't push down and distort the wheel liner.

Bump!...since many asking about the stock or modded airbox don't look more than a few posts down in any forum.

Now I see most of these have been done to 4th gen's. I punched a 4" in the bottom of my '07's air box, it looked like it would clear no problem. It's a problem...I ended up just having a very short straight intake because of the short distance between the bottom of the air box to the top of the plastic inner fender. I not going to cut up the inner fender and even past that issue it's tight between the inner fender above the upper control area to get an intake tube to a better air supply. I had found a cool piece of plastic gutter drain that went from 4" round to a flat 2" x 6" flat that would have fit perfect between the space in front of the upper control arm but the 4" round wouldn't fit between the bottom of the air box and the inner fender. In the pic's it looks like not only is there more room under the air box, but more room to run a intake hose

Not to say that some form of this mod won't work on other generation models, but it was definitely intended for the gen 4 models.
