Ill be doing this mod this weekend. Great write up. Has anyone come up with what kinda mpg gains they've seen over long periods of time? Thanks for the info.

I hear a lot of talk about HP gains but I was wondering if anyone has noticed any gain in MPG? I read 90% of this thread but didn't see anything mentioned, and if I'm not mistaken more/cooler air=less gas usage. Correct me if I am wrong, but I am looking for every little bit I can squeeze out of this beast for my 1300 mile road trip (one way) in September!

I did this mod yesterday, have to say im pleased with it, my truck seems to have a tad better throttle response and when I holderdown it really screams and seems to pick up speed a little better.
I did the 4 inch mod with the 4x8 dryer duct.

thanks jmr for the great idea

Brandon

Anyone do this without owning the hole saw? I have hole saws but not 3 or 4".

Bought the 4" dryer flexible foil duct.. Thinking of just using a dremel. Thoughts?

I just took out the entire airbox, put it on the lawn and drilled MANY holes very close to each other in 4" diam and the punched out the hole and filed down the rough edges. Made to fit!

This.. Same exact experience..! Love this.

Still need a high flow filter. Using OEM right now.
