Just took a 700 mile trip. With OEM filter, got 20.2 mpg on average.. 75mph average speed. Many times I looked down on a flat piece and was sitting at 22-24mpg.

Blown away. Averaged 17.5-18.5 last drive.

Butt dyno says there was a nice bump in mid range torque. Really takes off around 3k rpm, getting on the hwy, passing, etc.

Default Great thread- anyone else done this?

I did this mod today, and decided to go with 4", I drilled all of the holes in the bumper for the air flow and then mounted one of these that I cut down a good bit with some tin snips to that the pipe would fit without any hard bend in it.

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Fl...9?N=5yc1vZc4nu

anyone else mounted one of these up there instead of just leaving the pipe? once you cut it down it makes almost a perfect oval and it's a much larger diameter to funnel air into.

EDIT: On second thought's that dose not look exactly like the one I used, there was no rake to it. I'll try to post pictures tomorrow.

Wow I started this thread 4 years ago and it's still going also the original pics are back too. For anyone doing this use I suggest using the 4" tube instead of the 3". I did the 4" tube mod on my 2014 V6 Express along with a K&N air filter and it does help it breath cooler air and allot cheaper than a CAI.

This is what I used, and basically used tin snipes to cut half of it off, so it creates a nice large oval about the size of the screen in the front of the truck and attached the pipe to.

It actually wedges in there pretty snug, I used a zip tie because it was getting dark. I'm sure there are other ways to mount it.
