Hedghawg, thanks but I was talking about the first inlet at the other end of the hose from the airbox. Isn't that what's going on in your pic up above? I'm not comprehending exactly where that is on the truck. Maybe the '11 and '12 aren't the same under there.

I will see if i can look under the hood of a 2012 to see if they are different. I gotta go to the dealership sometime this week with my wife's truck an i will look then, unless someone can verify that for us or has a pic of the 2012 air box we can work with.

^^I was thirsty!

Also, to TNC, here is my air box. Yours "should" look like this. The Inlet I cut come from underneath so the air still passes through the filter.

If you look to the bottom of the pic, the ducting is coming out of the bottom and the elbow that Dodge has thrown in is right above and to the left of it.

Well, I guess I'm just looking at your first pic wrong...and I haven't even had any beer...LOL! I thought that very first pic on the first page was looking up from the ground somewhere around the bumper area. No problem, I've still haven't decided exactly where and how I'm going to do the initial inlet under or at the front of the truck. My airbox inlet will be pretty much like yours and the others I've seen at this point.

All the 4th gen gas engine airboxes are the same (5.7, 4.7 and 3.7).

I think that picture you are talking about is from the bottom of the bumper
and the air inlet hose connects to it. That might actually be from the diesel size that someone had referenced before where they used 4" duct pipe to go to the airbox.

Oh, that pic. That was a reference pic I was using as an example of what I am thinking about doing to the under the bumper inlet. The pic was a 3rd gen Cummings Diesel CAI intake that came with a particular kit. I got mine zip tied all snug up against the frame right now but I was wanting to do something a little cleaner to that end. I am going to sit down sometime this week and lay out the templates so I can cut it out and weld it up to be bolted under there. Who knows, it may even help a little with the intake too. Here is the link to that page.

I have a question, wouldn't it be counterproductive to drill a large hole at the bottom where dirt and debris will not have a filter to go through? I would rather drill holes on top of the air cleaner with airbox vents and get the protection of the filter to protect the motor. Just saying.

I'm not too sure what you are talking about but our mods actually go through the air filter first. That is just common sense going on there.
