Default Dodge Powertrain line up vs. Ford Powertrain line up

Ok so I don't know if everyone knows but apparently ford is starting the 6.2L into production on all the trucks sometime soon. I was wondering if yall think there will be a response from dodge or if they will just stay with the same size HEMI and such. Talk about it and discuss it i would really like to hear what everyone thinks and knows that i might not!

I do not see why putting the 6.4hemi in truck would hurt as an option. I also cannot for the life of me figure out why it is not an option in the 25/3500's. It spanks the f--d 6.2. I know 2 guys who always bought dodges decide on the f250 instead of ram 2500 just b/c they wanted a larger displacement gasser and im sure there are more guys like that out there. My next truck I want a 2500 gas and it better be bigger than the 5.7 as an option

The 6.1 isn't put in the trucks because it's designed for higher RPM performance which wouldn't work as well in a truck that needs it's peak torque in a lower RPM band. Latest rumor out of Auburn Hills is that the 6.4 won't go into the Ram, at least not in it's current congfiguration.

I don't think Ram is ready, financially or from a production standpoint, for a new engine yet. But they can do a lot with what they have (up 45 HP recently) and there is room for more.

Whatever they do will be done when the time is right. I expect within the next two model years we'll see a change.

A change will be coming in the CTD with the addition of the new 8 speed ZF transmission. The horsepower and torque numbers should go up and be on par with the latest offerings from Ford and Chevy.

Any idea when that may happen, Randy? If I wear out this truck on my project, I have been given permission to buy one more new truck before I die.

I'm hearing the 2012 model year is when the ZF is set to make its appearance, so I would expect to see the gains by then.

2011 MID YEAR there are several vehicles coming out with changes in the Chrysler Fiat lineup

The Dodge brand has six new or revamped products: The new Durango; the Charger, which goes into production in late November; revisions to the Grand Caravan minivan, Journey crossover and Avenger mid-size car, and some interior improvements to the Challenger muscle car.
A new Chrysler 200 model will be the size of the Sebring

"We've essentially remade these vehicles from the ground up," said Ralph Gilles, head of the Dodge brand, adding they have more fuel-efficient engines and better driving dynamics.

Chrysler's new Pentastar V-6 (283 horsepower) or the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, and both can be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Love all that info gt can't wait for the new pentastar to come out it seems 2wd v6 full sizes are the future w/ fords new 3.7 and the new pentastar pickuptrucks.com's next shoot out willl be 2wd v6 shortbeds, and yea that makes sense randy thanks for clearing that up I just hope within the next few years we see a larger displacement as an option for at least heavy dutys. I wonder how much longer they are gonna stick w/ the 4.7? And today on allpar I saw an article talking about the possibility of a twin turbo v6 maybe for thr charger sounds like dodges version of a taurus sho to me lol

I just hope I can talk the missus into letting me buy a new truck if they come out with a larger displacement engine and 8-speed tranny... and then letting me mod it
