you want the oil to drain back to the pan quickly.....the lubrication system is pressurized so getting back to the pan is the priority.....as for the tick....it has more to do with the type of lifters used......they are designed to bleed down quickly and thats just what they do.....guess im lucky....my truck has only done it once in 16k miles.....
