Default Another Intake Swap done right --- CAI dakota hat

Just finished mine yesterday...no before pics but who needs em

Cut my pipe to fit. I think it was off a Honda Accord. Its 3 inch aluminum. Used, but it cleaned right up. Benefit of having loads of goodies laying around from donor cars over the years!!!

I took out the piece of rubber blocking the air from coming straight through the grill to the filter. Have yet to have any rain so I can check to see whether it gets wet at all. I also put square pieces of velcro on the truck where the intake is sitting on the fender. I used the soft side of the velcro, and put one on the fender and one on the coolant reservoir which is barely touched. Not resting on the fender with alot of weight either. Worked perfect!

Thanks fellas for the info for me to get this done!

Hey Fellas,

I am new to this site and I see these CAI mods and I am wondering why you need the Dakota top hat. Can you run a 90 degree elbow right off the carb and lock it on with a clamp??

Welcome to the site! The throttle body is too large for just the elbow, its just over 5" around I believe.

Ahh yes makes sense! So if I could get something to fit on there nice and tight and then run it in to a 3" pipe it would work right??
