Question Question on posted fitment guide and references?!

Hello all! I'm the newest of the newbies on this website so have mercy!

I just bought my 08 ram 1500 Hemi quad cab sport 4x4 (LOVE it!) about a month ago and its time for some rubber. I saw the fitment guide posted on this sight...

http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=45373

...and saw that it said I could run 35's with a 2"+ level kit. Does this mean a 2" lift PLUS a leveling kit or just the 2" leveling kit. I intend on getting the black rockstar 20"x10" wheels ( -24mm offset and 4.5" backspacing) with Toyo MT 35x12.50s ...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20-XD...ht_4194wt_3728

...Has anybody done this or know of somebody who has pulled it off with little to no rubbing? Thanks in advance for your advice!

-Mike

...Also if anybody could recommend a good leveling kit which will avoid a "vibration" I have heard about or a good fix for that vibration if it happens?

Honestly if you want to go with a leveling kit and 35s it will be really tight. I have a 6" lift with 35s on my truck and it looks right. I had a leveling kit before with rear blocks (so 2" lift) with 35s before the lift and I did not like it. I had to cut the bumpers and inner fenders to fit the tires without rubbing. I have a -18 offset rim on the truck now so it did bring the tires out.

If you want to have the tires fit perfectly without any problems go with a 33" tire. that is my opinion. Some other guys will say the 35s will be fine but I had problems with it.

With the leveling kit there is no fix for the vibration really. You have to drop the front diff of the truck to correct the CV shafts angle after being lifted. I would imagine the cost of doing that is not too cheap. You would need a new subframe for the diff drop. All the lift kits that are out there include that to correct all the angles. You can find lift kits decently cheap and you wont have any vibration problems. You can also go with a body lift instead of a suspension lift, but lots of guys dont like body lifts out there.

How bad is this vibration and will it eventually lead to the CV shaft failing? and I really want the 35s. I really like the stuffed look and for some reason they are about $375.00 cheaper than 33s on ebay and I don't understand why? Also thatt $375 i'm saving could go towards correcting the problem. How would you recommend fixing this problem (with about a $375 budget) with keeping the 35's?

It's a bad vibration. Really bad. If you want 35's with a decent lift that will clear them (biggest area is at the trailing edge of the front bumper) then go with a good lift kit. They all have provisions to correct pinion angles and safe your u-joints or CV joints + no vibration. And if the kit you look at includes, or offers, a steering stabilizer, get it.

If you get the wobble after you get a level kit, you will end up pulling the level kit and going with a regular suspension lift. You just won't know whether or not you will have the problem until you put it on.

So go with the 35's (I like that size and have them on my truck) but do it with a suspension lift kit vs. a level kit.

Of course, the possibility exists that you won't have the problem with a level kit.

I just ordered the Bilstein adjustable shocks I have read they are designed to prevent this vibration and they guarantee stock or better ride quality. Depending on how they go on and ride 35's are soon to follow!

Thanks for your help Maddog and ScatPak!
