Default How much to paint the hood?

Some ******* decided to key my hood the other day right smack in the front/middle... it's deep enough to feel it with my fingernail.

I'm gonna try some do-it yourself scratch remover first: http://www.amazon.com/Quixx-00070-US...0&sr=8-1-spell

..But from what I've been reading about scratches like this is it probably won't come out with scratch removers..

How much would it cost to paint the hood of my truck? 2009 Dodge Ram 1500.. this thing is EXTREMELY aggravating to look at.

Can't tell from the pic just where this is on the hood but you have a choice. A spot repair where they prep the immediate area, then blend, or do the whole hood.

Spot repair is gonna be around $400+

Full hood probably approaching twice that. Those are local prices here so I'd check around in your area.

Good luck!

that paint is a dual stage, i'd say a normal body shop would charge you around 300-500 to repaint the whole hood.

and no that cannot be buffed out with a scratch remover compound. These compounds are only used for swirl marks, light scratches that are fine and on the surface of the clear coat.

With the scratch you have you are going to have to sand it down primer and repaint the area.

Where are you located at?

Man are you serious?? Someone actually did that to your truck? Wow that actually took some effort to get right onto the top of the hood. I think you will have to paint the hood rather than using a scratch remover. It doesnt hurt to try that first anyways.

Insurance won't cover it?

As RootBeer said check with your insurance they may cover it, or at least they should.

Wont I have to pay the deductible? It'll also raise my rates because I made a claim.

Default Hood

Keyed your ride that is low. I think you will have to paint the hood I painted mine and it was about $800.00 make sure you take it to a quality shop and get it done right. Good luck.
