Default Media Center 730N

In the brochure for the 2010 truck it says (for Media Center 730N)

CD/DVD/HDD/NAV radio with 6.5-in touch screen, GPS navigation, 30GB hard drive (4250 songs).... ect ect

For Media Center 430N it says

CD/DVD/HDD radio with 6.5-in touch screen, 30GB hard drive (6700 songs).... ect ect

Now, I have the 730N system. Love it. But on my way to work this stopped at an extra long red light, I was fiddling with the system settings.

Push Menu > System > Manage My Files > HDD Info (cant remember the exact titles of all things). It said '16.xx GB Capacity, 1.xx GB Used, 15.xx GB Free'.

Why the heck do I not have 30GB? Looking at the differences between the Nav and non-Nav systems, specifically the song quantity, I am wondering, does the Nav take up 14 odd GB of the memory in the 730 unit?

I dont know much about the inner workings of it, but that seems a little excessive to me...

Anyone know?

The Nav takes up half of the hard drive space. I have the RER unit on our SRT, same thing..

What Jared ^^^^ said. NAV maps take up about 1/2 the available HDD space. I've seen some 60GB upgrades available for the RER. I am not sure if you have to swap units (new head unit) or if you can just upgrade your current one. If you want to check into that, talk with your dealer.
