Default Exhaust Mishap?

Hi fellas, I have an 03 1500 5.7QC. Yesterday I chopped off the stock muffler and tailpipe and in its place thru on a thrush welded 3in 3out single. I dumped it right after with a piece of the old tailpipe. With the full cold air intake and it, together sounds mean as hell! however it seems a little sluggish compared to stock. Did what I thought would help power and mpg with having a less restrictive flowing exhaust, actually hurt me!? Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Disconnect the batteryfor half an hour to reset the computer and drive it for a couple hundred miles so it can learn the new airflow.

Possibly there is not enough restriction in the flow. Try the ^^^ first, then maybe consider looking at how big of a change you did from your stock piping to the new stuff.

I agree with that. You may also have opened it up too much and lost some low end torque.

But disconnect the negative cable for 30 minutes, let it set, then re-attach and go drive it like ya stole it.

Might also need to check your air filter. Might be clogged and dirty and not pulling as much air as needed for the new exhaust

Yup, I had the same thing happen to me on a brand new '94 Ram 5.2. After a hundred miles or so, it was fine. (And I didn't know to unhook the battery at the time (I was young!)

When I did my first exhaust setup, the same thing happened to me. It took about 3 tanks of fuel for the computer to adapt. After that, the truck pulled better again.
