They should be sending out some sort of survey. I don't know that there is really anything Chrysler can do about it other than log the complaint since the deal is between you and the dealership bit I would definately mention it.

It does my heart good to hear of a dealership getting a little of their own medicine. I have traded 2 times in the past this same way, except that the dealer clarified that the deal would be finalized only after they inspected the trade when I brought it in.

Another thing to always remember: I have a close friend from college that was a sales mgr at a large dealership, where I once bought a car because he would give me the best deal, which I thought he did. Years later after he went into a different field we were visiting when I asked him if I really did get a GOOD deal back then. He said if I thought I did...then I did, but he added, if you ever drive out with a new vehicle and the papers are signed, you just got screwed!
BTW, I've been screwed several times over the years.

Danny

I know Im late to this party, but this might help.

Four years ago I traded my 1997 BMW 328is Dinen package for a Honda Element (I know!!! WTF?!). Anyway they made the deal without ever seeing my car. I told them it had 97,000 miles on it and that it was in mint condition. I got 11,000 for it in the end. All paperwork was signed and the deal was done. I dropped the car off the next day. For the next week they called and told me that they wanted to re-negotiate because the car was not street legal and they could not sell it. I told them they should have asked me that when they made the deal. After going over every part of the contract it never specified that the trade in had to be street legal or even drivable. I wrote them a letter asking them to stop contacting me. When the manager called me I told him he was headed toward a law suit since I had already sent them a certified letter asking them not to contact me. I have no Idea what happened to that car, but I traded in the Element for the Ram I have now!

carsalesmen and dealerships are in the business for one reason - to sell vehicles. They will always pick apart any vehicle you bring in as your trade to give you as little value possible NO MATTER HOW PRISTINE YOUR TRADE IN CAR IS KEPT. Take this into consideration and prove this theory, go to another dealership with your new truck you just got and tell them you want to trade for something else. Guarantee they will try and screw you over and give you as little as possible trade in value. So please don't feel any remorse for these guys and for how they have been supposedly mistreated!

I have NEVER traded in an older vehicle for a new one,
you pay them to take the old vehicle off your hands

guess that is why KBB & the other blue books have 2 values, Private sale & dealer sale

.

That was kind of mean to bring in a car with no headlights! But what is done is
done. There's nothing to be gained from further communication. I'm surprised they
complained. Henry Ford II had a saying: "Never complain, never explain".
