Arrow Possible to swap RES for an RER unit in 2010 Ram?

I have an opportunity to buy a RER unit (high speed, removed from 2007 Wrangler) and replace my current RES unit in a 2010 Ram.

1) Will it work (plug and play)?
2) Can I transfer current Sirius in RES to RER unit?
3) Other than a nav antenna, will I need anything else?
4) I am expecting to replace front bezel

Thanks mucho in advance!

btw, cost is $650...fair price?

Andrew

Sounds like a good upgrade, Andrew. What I am not sure about is CanBus compatibility, i.e. the low speed vs. high speed issue.

I hope one of our audio gurus, chithead or dodgeman70592, see this and have an answer for ya!

The swap won't work. The Wrangler uses the CAN-B system (low speed) whereas the '10 Ram uses CAN-IHS (high speed) network.

If you have the part number of the radio, look for it here - http://www.wkjeeps.com/Mygig_parts.htm#PARTS

If you are putting it into a 2009+ Ram 1500 you don't need to change the bezel

2007 was the first year for high speed bus used in a few models the wrangler being one of them. I don't see a problem using it I have an older REN mygig I use in my 2010 ram..

My mistake. I had the wrong vehicle pulled up instead of the Wrangler when I looked up the bus specs. Sowardcustoms is correct.

Thanks for the info everyone. Looks like its going to be an upgrade for me. Just gotta find a NAV antenna and get Sirius switched from my RES unit to the new RER unit.

yes you can just swap out, the ram/& wrangler are both high speed !!
no need to change the bezel, just pop bezel out, 2 screws under the rubber piece on top, if a st or slt, if a sport/ or laramie then u have the middle console, more to it.
then 4 bolts hold radio in, all the connections are the same in the back, & yes you will need the nav antenna ( blue connection) the sirius stays with the radio- However 2007 unless that radio was renewed, then you will have to suscribe again !!!
