Default Chrome plating flaking off wheel

Hi all. I just bought my Ram 1500 Sport HEMI in May 2010. The other day I noticed something white on my rim. I usually keep my truck pretty clean so I tried to wipe it off and realized it was a bare spot. The chrome plating had flaked off.

My truck has never been to a carwash, I wash it by hand with soft lambswool mitts and microfiber towels. It's never seen a brush or a high pressured hose in it's short life.

Whats a girl to do? Do you think this is something the dealer will rectify? I would imagine somehting like this is not covered under my basic warranty.

Open for suggestions....

It's covered by your warranty. Take it to the dealer and get it replaced.

I would call a Dodge rep if the dealer says they will not cover it. It is obviously a factory defect. I got the dealer to replace the doors on my 2001 2500 when they started rusting out after four years. Sometimes the squeaky wheel does get greased.
Now I have to check my wheels........ I have always thought that plastic clad wheels sounded like a short life item.

Happened on my 04 Ram too, and rather quickly. So I went with aluminum ones this time and will replace with real chromes one day.

I'd go back and get the person's name that told you they aren't under warranty. Then I'd let them know that you are calling the Chrysler 1-800 # and naming them in your compliant along with the dealer's name.

At a bear minimum those are 3/36k warranty items not normal wear items like brake pads and tires.
