Default cam?

i have a 99 ram sport, im thinking about putting a cam in it but im not sure what else i will have to change. will the stock computer accept the new cam?

It depends on the design of the camshaft . The manufacturer of the cam will tell you if the computer will need to be tweaked .

You may also need spings/retainers, but the manufacturer should know that as well.

What cam are you looking at? Before i went to a 390 kit i had a a very small cam in (don't remember the exact numbers, but it was not much more then stock) and my computer threw codes like crazy but everything ran fine. It might be in your best interest to just get a tuner. I would also recommend getting new rods, rockers, and valve springs while you have it apart.
