I'm not sure . I've found the same thing . I installed a 2" Daystar Leveling kit in the front .

i do not completly understand what differs from offroad package and the normal 4wd truck.. if i have it correct, the offroad is lifted 2in from factory? if that is correct, i would be interested to know how?? taller coils / added leafs....hmmmm

if thats the case, than in theory a 5" lift coil would give an offroad package truck a 3" lift i guess.. but i still dont get why it wont work..

are you happy with the quality of the daystar Tom?? ive seen several companies that offer that kit.. what size tire are u runnin?

Off road rams have special "hi rate" springs that give the truck extra lift. There are no factory spacers, Add a leafs, etc. Just stiffer springs.

The confusion stems from the information the after market gives you.
Lift measurements are taken off a "stock" or "standard" Ram.
Example: A "coil spring" lift kit is rated for 5 inches on a standard ram. If you install the the "standard" lift springs on a off road which is already lifted, you will only lift the off road ram about 3 inches because of the lift the off road springs already provide. So to lift an off road a true 5 inches, you would need to install a 7 inch lift.

If I haven't confused you yet, read on. If you want your off road to be lifted 5 inches over a standard ram, install a 3 inch spacer. I would install a 3 inch lift that contained longer arms and probably use a 5 inch lift track bar mount to recenter your axle. Plenty of clearence for most 35 inch tires with the correct backspaced rims.
This is how I lifted my truck.

You can use standard ram components on an off road, but you have to be a bit more judacious on matching certain components because you are already starting with a lifted truck.

Thanks, glad to help. A Fabtech 5 inch lift was installed on the off road whos' owner gave me the stock springs. With 315 tires his truck looked huge.

Interesting.... I have the same question for my 2007 2wd megacab 1500. Do you think stock 3500 springs will fit from the same year to level out my truck instead of using poly spacers?

I hate to say this...but you'd probably be better off posting this question in the 3rd generation truck forum under thier suspension section.

I'm happy with it . I have experienced the death wobble with it . It's been a while now . I don't know why . I'm running BFG 315/70/17's . I do have some things I need to correct on it since the Daystar leveling kit . I have tried several different things with the track bar location . I need to order a adjustable one and that should take care of it . I do have some tire rubbing issues , but only on hard turns .
