Ethanol anybody...? Ethanol blended gasoline plays a HUGE part in poor mpg

Start using "Marine Grade" Stabil, it works...! (1oz for every 10 gallons)
My mpg jumped up to 18c / 23h (was previously approx 13c/19h)
I`m also using 89 octane on every fill up (i tried 87, mpg and power loss)

what gears do you have?- are these numbers calculated by hand or by using the computer? What was the mileage using 87 octane, have you tried the red "normal" grade stabil? or this just a marine grade deal?

I do not understand how/why stabil would increase gas mileage as it does not add any BTU's to the gas- it just slows done how fast the volatile compunds in the gas volatilze which is normally not an issue if you are burning the gas over a short time peroid.

How is everyone calculating mileage? Resetting the display and reading it for a minute or averaging over the entire tank?
Miles driven divided by gallons filled calculated after fill tank fill-ups. I stop the pump at the nearest nickle after shut-off and use that as my known starting point for all measurements.

Well I would like to get the best milage, but I didn't buy the 300srt8 or the 5.7 hemi thinking that I was going to kill the gas milage. Smile and get over it.

Hand Calc`d and i have 3.55 gears & 20inch tires
87 octane only got me 11c/15h mpg with 2 tanks of it, 89 was MUCH better.
Your engine computor backs the ignition timing off a bit due to cheap 87 ping

I only use marine grade stabil, i`ve tried them all MGSTABIL worked the best.
MGSTABIL blends the E10 back into the gas so it can burn more uniformally, hence much better mpg
Do a search on google for marine grade stabil (lots of info there)
Oh and by the way, MGSTABIL removes water too, unlike some/most others.
Water comes from using ethanol, alchohol attracks moisture.
Use it, you wont be sorry

Can you guys tell me about your first weeks MPG? I just bought the truck (2010 Quad 4x2 with a hemi) .. got around 10mpg this week after 70% city driving. I was in a 4 cylinder (2.0L) jeep with a 12 gallon tank before and would pay about $35/week for gas (was getting around 17mpg mostly because of very wide tires and a roof rack). After a week with the Ram... $75 to fill.. ouch. If I can get anywhere near 16mpg I'll be very very happy.

I'm also wondering as my parents just purchased a new Nissan Murano that did 9mpg on first couple of weeks and then jumped all the way to 17mpg.

Sounds like oranges and apples, can't compare a 4 banger with a 5.7 also the truck weighs just a bit more Also the tanks is bigger so you don't fill it as often. I get 14 to 14.9 around town if not blowing someone off
