Angry U connect and radio problem

Hey guys,
My U-connect stopped working. The problem started out connecting and disconnecting my phone at random every 2 mintues, I know because my phone beeps when it connects and disconnects. At the time I was listening to my iPod, when it disconnected, it would switch off from the iPod and go to the radio, and would pick my first pre-set radio station, but be a few digits off the station.

I stopped, to end the maddness, I deleted the pairing connection on my phone and thought I would re-pair it. I went to press the U-connect phone button, nothing, pressed again nothing, like dead, no voice from the system or anything. I pressed the record/radio call button beside it, nothing. Turned the truck off, took the key out, started it again, nothing.

Uggh, I was doing a lot of this

So kept on driving home with the phone connection not working. Back to my iPod, boom, it changes to the radio by itself again, pulled over to check the iPod wasn't dead, nope, fully charged, plugged it back in, plays for a bit then boom, changes to the radio.

At this point I am ready to rip the radio out

Glad to see this U-connect radio system only last 6 months and 17,000 kms... It goes to the dealer on Thursday.

Any ideas what might be the problem so I armed when at the dealer so I don't get the standard, CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT

Just to update... As I thought, it's always a fight with the dealer.

I found the problem has been intermittent and was working fine yesterday morning, then when I driving to the dealer, the problem started again. So I left the truck running at the dealer and had the tech take a look. He says, "ya this radio is fried"

He comes and gets me a few mintues later and says he talked to his manager and there is a service bulletin on this and it's just interference from the bluetooth on my phone and the satellite. He said it was because it was in the cupholder and I need to move it around within the truck??? Good idea play with your phone when your driving to find a new location for it to work.

I told him I had no problem with my Blackberry I had before and always had it in the cupholder. And this phone is only a week old and worked fine for the first couple of days and then started acting up. I also said, why would the iPod not work then?? He had no answer really, just told me to move it around and come back in a couple days if it doesn't work and leave it with them for the day...

Why are these guys always trying to save Dodge the warranty money, just swap out the radio, it's pretty obvious there is a problem with it. Of course I tried the phone in different positions all the way home and nothing changed. So now I have to book an appointment and leave it with them for the day, hopefully they don't try to blame it on the phone again...doesn't help that the dealer is half an hour away and 1 hour from my work...ugghhh....

There are known problems with certain phones, Verizon phones with Vcast installed and certain Iphone issues.

The phone is an LG GW300. It's a pretty basic phone with a QUERTY keyboard like a blackberry. No Verzion in Canada, this is with Rogers (Fido)

If it was the phone, why would it stop the iPod from playing?

I was just posting what I know of "known" issues between phones and Uconnect.

I'd suggest going to http://www.dodge.com, click on "for owners" near the top right. Then click on the Uconnect links and give them a call.

I bet its your iPod, there has been a problem with iPod & iPhone 4, a new software update version 4.1 is out now, it may have a fix in it

to find out, borrow another NON APPLE phone, pair it to your Ram, drive around & see what happens

there are several issues with u-connect and the new IPhone 4's and some other blue tooth devices..... My Gig and Apple are both aware of the problem...don't know who will have a software fix out first, one should be coming at some point...Lots of info at Apple and My GiG web sites....In the mean time, I found that if you reload your My GIG system software with the earlier version,( you can find it on line for free) I thinks its verson 1.295....It will take care of the problem until Apple or Beck in Germany, has a new software fix.... hope this helps
