Default 2010 Ram 1500 rear bumpers

I have been in the market for a 2010, or 2011 ram 1500 with the sport package ( color matching front and rear bumpers) with the exterior paint. During my search on auto trader, cars.com and ebay, some of the rear bumpers I have seen have black plastic caps. The majority of them have solid rear bumpers without the caps. Is there a reason for this? I can't figure it out. I was thinking it was a replacement bumper but I have been finding them on both new and used. Maybe this is a 2009 rear bumper and the cars are not 2010 models but 2009?
Any help for an answer would be helpful.

George

My 2011 sport has a body color rear bumper but on top it has the black plastic (to protect it when stepping on the bumper).

I think what you are referring to as the "plastic cap" is the tread. Some also have a roll pan rather than a "bumper".

I think all the Sport bumpers have the black caps. It's there so you don't step on the paint when stepping on the bumper.

He's not talking about the top of the bumper. They are on the profile of the bumper. I've wondered about that as well. It looks like rounded bolt heads like you used to see on bumpers that bolted to bracket.

The backup sensors stand out in my 10 Sport but they are a good thing to have along with the backup camera. I will not buy another car if it doesnt come with the backup camera.

They are back up sensors. It's probably one of my favorite features on the truck, along with the back up cam on the big Nav screen. Don't buy a truck without one!

Guys thanks for answering my question. I could not figure it out for the life of me. I 'm looking to get a sport model truck in either blue or white and I hate the look of the black caps. But know knowing what they are, I can live with it and well now request them as an option.

George
