Default new frame

Good afternoon to all. Just wanted to share my story with you. Went to the dealership for some 30,000 mile maintenance and to report to them a nasty sound when going over bumps and potholes. They told me I had a faulty rear leftshock and they would replace both rear shocks. ( covered under 3 yr 36,000 warranty thank god ! ) They told me to drive it home and when the parts came in the would swap em out. Heres whereit gets interesting. Drive it another week and the sound and feel over the bumps geetin worse. Bring the truck back to the dealership and this is what they found. Rear left shock seized and in the process ripped the mounting bracket out of the frame, putting a hole in the frame. They want to replace the frame with a brand new one which is very honorable of the dodge rep that ok/d the job, but im worried after totally stripping the frame and then re-installing everything my truck will never be the same. My truck is a 2008 big horn package. Iguess they are hesitant to swap it out for a 2010,which i really wouldn,t have a problem with. (lol) Anyway some input would be appreciated as far as what rights i have and what to expect. Thanks Teddy

I had a truck in last week to align from a body shop, it was a 2009 gmc but it had frame damage and had a new frame put under it cuz it on ly had 9k miles on it and to insurance it was cheaper than getting a new truck. The only thing is they just have to make sure the wiring and everything is put back properly. We recieved the truck to check the alignment and also figure out why the fuel gage was inop. After looking a the wiring to the fuel sending and such i found where they put a wire under a fuel rail instead of on top, pinching it and cutting into the wire, then at some point it had pulled some other wiring from the front so it has been a PIA to track down all the bad wiring when all they had to do was do it right the first time. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION: swapping a frame in is fine and your truck will be the same, just do not rush them to get it done. I'm sure they won't do what this place did.

.

Frame off restorations aren't unusual on older cars.
