actually you all have it in your vehicles newer vehicles right now, its called a black box, but, it actually silver in color

its a DATA recorder, similar to the ones in planes

they have been putting them in vehicles since 2007 & have not been required to tell anyone about them until the year 2011, now if they sell a 2011 vehicle & don't disclose it to the buyer, they are breaking the law

actually the units in your vehicles now, only contain a small time period of data, nothing long term, like how you were driving just before an accident

i'm sure the insurance companies device is more like a semi trucks TATTLETAIL unit,
with those thay can tell at what RPMs you shift at, how many minutes & what time you took a break, how many RPMs you run the engine at, if you let the vehicle idle for more than 5 minutes, instead of shutting it off, etc.
New laws read no idling over 3 minutes with diesels, you may notice signs at truck stops, in the truckers parking area

it must remain on the truck until i cancel the policy and it is always checking my behavior they even have you track your driving data online

"MyRate combines driving data, wireless technology and Progressive's knowledge of predictive behavior to charge drivers a rate based on how they drive. When customers choose to participate, they receive a MyRate device that plugs into their car's onboard diagnostic system. It records how, how much and when the vehicle is driven and teaches drivers about their driving habits."

"What information does the Snapshot device collect?
The Snapshot device collects:
Time of day and vehicle speed, which helps determine how many miles you drive and how often you make sudden stops.
When the device is connected and disconnected from the vehicle
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)"

"What driving habits are included in my snapshot?
Your driving snapshot includes the number of miles you drive, time of day you drive, and how often you make sudden stops. People who drive less, in safer ways, and during safer times of day could get a discount."

they clame they cant track you with it but i strongly disbelieve this

Yeah, so what is the great savings by allowing them to invade your privacy? My insurance is less than $40 per month full coverage with $100 deductible collision and $0. deductible for comprehensive. (State Farm) Yes it is a hemi, my Super Bee is only about $9. more a month in premiums, 6.1L Hemi.
