I put a TB spacer on a 1993 Dodge Dakota 3.9 V6. It had better throttle response but don't recall improvements in MPG. I put a TB spacer on a 1993 GMC 5.7 V8 and really didn't notice any improvement. I buying a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 this weekend. This thing I plan to do is the TB modification like the high performance TB sold.

I tried everything possible to increase the mileage in my truck. The very best thing I found is to not step on the peddle! I spent $ on air intake, dual exhaust kit, throttle body spacers and functional Ram Air hood. Very little difference. We all bite the bullet. Best not to spend on all these things and put the $ towards buying gas!

Now the air passes through the filter, through the TB, past the spacer, into the manifold and then gets sucked through the runners from there. Having the spacer there isn't going to change anything. The fuel doesn't come into the equation until after the air is out of the keg.

The only way it would improve power or mpg slightly is if it did something to fool the IAC sensor by somehow making the air in the manifold cooler (I have no idea how it would do this but it would explain the mpg increase that people are reporting). But that can be done for free just by moving the IAC to a different place.
You mean like this...

idk if the 4.7 has a tv cable for adjustment.. my 5.9 when i removed the throttle body and cleaned it while installing my throttle body spacer.. somehow mine got messed up i would go down the road and it would go out of gear or rev up to high and downshift by itself somone told me about tv cable and gave me a link with directions i adjusted mine ever since my truck has been normal.. if the 4.7 has a tv adjustment sounds to me like yours was moved to far forwards causing it to shift early as hell... if its not that if could be something in the tranny.. last time serviced???
