Default Remote start hood switch

Getting cold here in AK and want to get remote working. Missing a "plug" in the hood that pushes down a switch near radiator. Asked dealer, but they couldn't find the missing part. Remote start won't work because "hood open" wording appears. New to this forum, so sorry for the non-mechanical description of problem.
Thanks for the help

I have to chime in on something. I know you need it yesterday, but you've got an 09 which I'm guessing is still under the original bumper to bumper warranty.

If the truck came with the remote start and the above is the case, there is no such thing as "can't find the missing part" from the dealer. That's what dealer's and their service departments are for. I wouldn't pay a dime to get something fixed that is supposed to be covered by the original warranty.

I agree with Rootbeer. Let them do the work and figure out why it thinks your hood is open.

Default Same issue when new

When I first brought my truck home I had the same issue, to fix it the dealer just grabbed a piece off another vehicle on the lot, its black plastic plunger/cap that fit under the hood in the front by the locking mechanism.
You paid alot of money for that truck and the dealer made a large profit, make them fix it on the spot. Its nothing difficult for them to do as I said earlier. Good Luck! (DTAS) dont take any $#!*

Enjoy the Ride!

seems to have been common issue on the 09's from the factory without the plunger. Its just a make and break switch. Look near the hood latch for a round hole in the plastic trim. Thats where the part goes. You should be able to find the wiring harness there. I'll but you could make a jumper to close the circuit until the dealer orders your part.
