Default Newb question; goofy wiring?

Ok, so here's my problem. I am the install manager for an AC company in east texas, and on monday I'm supposed to be going to Houston for a week to do some work down there. Now we (the company/ my father) bought this truck new from the dealership with the towing package already on it. I remember shortly after we got it i took a trip to Austin and our 18' flatbed trailer the right taillight didn't work with the running or the brake/turn signal. I do remember the running lights working at that time. Fast forward 5 years (My father and I have played musical chairs in this truck) and now I have no running lights on the trailer or right brake/turn lights. I know it has been this way for atleast a couple of years (got pulled over for this problem 2.5 yrs ago) and I have just kinda held my breathe when I have to haul trailers at night, but now that I have to go to the big city of Houston I would really like to remedy this problem. The lights on the box trailer I am taking work on both of my other Ford trucks, but not my dodge. So what gives? Sorry this is so long and thanks in advance
Wes

Start with the obvious and check the fuses for all the trailer lamps and then the connector for any corrosion. Use a test light and verify voltage on the pins that are supposed to have it and check the ground for continuity.
