Default 2010 slt dual exhaust info

I am sure this has been covered separately in different threads, but some info may be missing so here is what I have learned so far:

Stock muffler is 3" in and 2.25" out (duals) (5 1/2" spacing)
26" long body and the rear hangers are welded to the muffler.

Replacement Magnaflow is as follows (5x8 oval):
These are 18" (body) and will require an extension pipe
12278 stainless 3"in/dual 2.25" out
14278 polished

These are 18" (body) but have a 2.5" dual out and will require 2.5" to 2.25" adapter (2 of them) (5x8 oval):
12288 stainless
14288 polished

These are the same as above but 14" body (5x8 oval):
12198 stainless
14221 polished

The spacing of the dual out on the stock muffler is 5 1/2", but you can use any of the ones listed above (most of them have 4" dual out spacing).

There is a 22" (body) polished muffler that is 14588. This one has a 5 3/4" dual out spacing, but the body is 5x11 oval. This one appears to be the most direct replacement, but will require an extension pipe. From what I have read, this will be the most quite replacment due to the length. Apparently the shorter the muffler, the louder it is..this makes sense due to the amount of packing amterial.

Hope this helps.

I hear Mufflex has an exact fit replacment for our dual exhaust muffler in 3 diff. lengths depending on noise level desired.

That is correct...I just think they are a little on the expensive side. The magnaflow 12278 is $80 and the extension pipe is $6. I already have duals that will bolt right back up, so $86 vs $240 plus shipping.

This is where is info comes from..I bought 14288 which is 3" in and dual 2.5" out..I didn't want to install adapters, so I am returning 14288 and I bought 12278 instead. Shoudl be here in a couple of days and I will post up some pics and hopefully a video.

Default Excellent Work!

This is all good info to have as I consider any changes to my stock 2010 Hemi ST single exhaust with resonator. The truck makes the right sounds now but a few more ponies and the look of duals would be nice.

Thanks for your diligence in putting this together for our benefit.

Awesome post. You really helped me out on this one, because the 2.5 " outlet was floating around here as well!

Just ordered mine! Do you have any info on the tubing coming out of the cats to the collector pipe? The previous gen rams is 2.5" but not sure on ours. I ordered the 2.5" Y pipe to replace....hope it works!

absolutely...I am curious how things turn out because I got the 2.5 muffler and have spoken to some that have had no issues welding that in, so curious if any difference between your 2.25 and my 2.5.
