Default 355 hp ?

hi

i have had my truck for a week now and i really enjoy my new ride, the guy i bought it off told me that it was "unplugged" (directly translated from swedish)
and this "unplugged" had to do with the emission regulations and the truck now had prox. 355 Hp.

so can someone explain this to me ?

is this damaging the engine ?

can i have this undone, set it back to normal ?
i have to remind all americans that we in europe have alot higer fuelprizes.

Sounds like he's "blowing smoke" to me. There's nothing you can unplug and gain 110 horsepower.

unless your runnin like high performance pistons and connecting rods, hp cams, and and injectors, our year only makes like 240, and sports make 245 i think, maybe he is talking about the torque?

Only real way to know for sure what kind of hp and torque you're putting out is to have a dyno test run on the truck.

Personally, I think the guy was less than truthful with that statement.

Maybe he meant unplugging the catalytic converter? Converters do plug up if they get old enough. Maybe he cut the insides out of it and welded the case back together? I still doubt it has any 355 hp though. My wife and I have foreign exchange students, and I know the translation thing can be interesting and fun sometimes. I know about your European fuel prices too. We spent ten days in Madrid and La Coruña in Spain last month. I feel for you guys in that regard.

Even with an exhaust that completely free flows, I couldn't see getting more than 20 HP or so more out of the engine.
