Default Not getting gas? 97 4x4 5.9L

Just bought this one last night......guy told me it needed a fuel pump.

Fuel pump is turning on when the key is in the ON position. I changed out the spark plugs. #4 + #8 were filled with deposits and could no longer spark.

Truck does not run. If I spray the carb it'll fire and run until it runs out. Tries to start somewhat most of the time without spraying but obviously isnt getting enough gas....

SO....is there anything that could cause this besides MAYBE a clogged fuel filter? Truck has been run for who knows how long with no air filter or box. There isnt a pressure valve on the fuel rail as far as i can see....

Start with checking fuel pressure and volume. With #4 and #8 fouled, I suspect the intake plenum pan gasket is shot. What do you mean by a pressure valve, the schrader valve to hooking up a pressure gauge or a fuel pressure regulator?

there is usually a valve like a tire stem on most fuel rails on alot of vehicles....

truck has 171k and engine is pretty clean, has been sitting i guess.....aluminum is a little corroded...PO bought it 5 months ago tho
