Unhappy Bilstein 5100 shocks problems...

I was looking to level out my truck and get a better ride so I weighed my options and heard that new Bilstein 5100 shocks would do this. So I purchased some new Bilstein 5100 series shocks (BILF4-BE5-F812-H0) for the front and (BILF4-BE5-F813-H0) for the rear and it says that it will give the truck 2.75" of lift in front on the highest setting and 1" in the rear. I brought them to my local dodge dealer and they said that they will not give the truck lift by just swaping out the shocks. Does anyone know what the deal is or has anyone done this before. I'm kinda lost when it come to suspensions so any help would be appreciated... Thanks

Default I just did this kit!

I love it and they go up to 2.75. You need the leveling kit not just the shocks. I bought the whole thing for $350 online. VERY HAPPY!

The Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks allow you to lift your truck, the regular Bilstein HD shocks are just shocks. My dealer said the same thing, the guy I talked to was convinced the 5100's can't lift the truck, but he wasn't very familiar with them. Yes, you can level your truck with Bilstein 5100's, how much lift is up to you.

The Bilstein shacks allow for a range of lifts (as they are adjustable). The springs or spring seats give you a lift. You are on the right track but need MORE PARTS!

Good Luck with Bilsteins. Lifetime warranty B.S.. Company changed hands 3 times already, & they are tradin on a good name. You need to send the old shock back to get it warrantied. They won't even sell you another shock, then credit you back if & when shock is determined defective. So your vehicle is supposed to be down while you wait 2 weeks or more, just to here its bad from hard use/abuse. its happened to 3 people I know. I wish someone would have warned me be4 I put on 2 trucks. At least My Ram just got Ranchos. I will never buy their products again.

They obviously aren't familiar with the adjustable 5100's. You can tell them that they DO in fact lift the truck (in the front that is). I believe the rears are not adjustable in the 5100 series though. Someone may have to confirm that. As for the brand, I have the 5100 Bilsteins up front and love them, and I have several friends with Bilstein shocks and I've never heard a bad thing.

Shouldn't need anything else....they come with the adjustable collar and you install the OEM spring seat over that.

the front are height adjustable but to raise the rear you will need a block to acheive the 1" lift if you so desire
